When you elected me to this position in 2014, I made several commitments to you. I claimed I was going to take bold action, and I delivered political action to stand up in the face of all adversity. I told you it was time for better use of dues, and I gave you a lean and mean organization with no dues increase for the past two years. I said we needed a modern vision, and I delivered a new strategic approach and an organization structured to take on our members toughest issues. I committed to being present, visible and active in promoting the value of our work, and I succeeded in turning our biggest issues at the bargaining table (dismantling of science, privatization, and lost tax revenue for critical programs) into Federal Election issues. In December of 2014, the Ottawa Citizen named me one of the top rising stars to watch, and in August 2015, I got the cover and a two-page spread in the Ottawa Sun with the tag-lines: “Why Harper Should Fear Her” and “The Science of Political Action”. In true PIPSC form, I invite all members to examine the evidence of the strong leadership I have brought to PIPSC as your President. I want to assure you that I have no intention of stopping now! There is still so much work to be done to protect the hard-won rights of our members.
My Continued Commitment to You
